my warmup sets are both with conv and sumo stances.ģ4 yo, 5'4ish, bodyweight 150-155#, pulled 305# for 2 last week and it felt ok. Im slowly trying to rehab my back and hips/glutes but sumo just feels better for me.Ĭurrently running mag/ort deadlift program with some friends. i prefer low bar back squatting cuz it just feels comfy for me. my arms are short in relation to my torso and lower body, so it feels like my back is completely horizontal when im at the bottom of a conv pull. i switched to high bar back squatting and to sumo. i have two herniated discs L4/L5 and L5/S1, so keeping a more vertical torso helps me in all aspects of life. Personally, I feel like sumo develops musculature less efficiently than conventional. When I'm ready to powerlift competitively, I'll start training sumo and lowbar again. I've found that conventional is more stress on my body. ![]() I reverted back to highbar ass to grass and conventional DL. I learned it and pulled it for five months, along with lowbar squat. I'm tall and skinny, sumo works well for me. I'm 6' and my feet are near the plates but not touching.Ī side note because you genuinely seem interested in developing it why are you pulling sumo? Conventional is harder than sumo yes, but it's also much more functional.
